Is Facebook not for bloggers?

tw_vs_fbI’ve noticed that moms who blog have a strong preference for Twitter when it comes to life streaming (micro-blogging) and chatting with friends. It’s not to say that they aren’t on Facebook, but it is more than likely merely being fed with their tweets.

Conversely, moms that do not have a blog have a strong preference for Facebook. It’s unlikely that they spend anytime with Twitter.

Is this perspective accurate?

Is it because Twitter is better than Facebook for driving blog visits?

  • Kimberly, nice said. My perspective and primarily use as well. "getting" twitter seems like a big hurdle. Kim, great link from Jessica. Thanks!

It leads me to think about the usefulness of FB Pages for bloggers? Are they just a distraction and traffic-suck from the blog?
  • And yet... I wonder if all roads don't lead to Facebook. I see some bloggers writing over there and getting replies and comments. I'm not willing to let all my Facebook go public though, so that limits my exposure in that space and I guessing this is the same for many others.
  • I agree with you. Jessica Smith adds interesting perspective on this at http://jessicaknows.com/home/2009/11/15/giving-.... I
  • Personally, I use Twitter for more blogger/work/blog readers quick interaction. I use Facebook for more personal information sharing - because that is where most of my non-blogging mom friends are active. A lot of them still don't "get" Twitter which I totally understand.
