Karianna: Get to know her before #Blogher09
Joy
What is your least favorite word?
Mahhhhhhhhm! – said with an eye roll
What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
I love to take pictures, but wouldn’t say I am a “photographer.” I collect Sleeping Beauty Barbies, but they’re in the shed since to display them would be creepy. Speaking of sleeping, it is one of my favorite hobbies! I love dancing and gymnastics but while showing off my skills forget that I am 35 years old.
What do you most dislike?
People giving me parenting advice, or unsolicited advice in general. The worst is a non-parent trying to tell me how best to approach autism spectrum disorders (with which my 8 year old was diagnosed at age 4.) We all walk different paths, and what is right for our family may not be right for another. But all too often, people remark, “Can’t you just…” followed by their ‘brilliant’ idea that somehow they believe I haven’t already tried.
Who are your favorite characters in history?
Sleeping Beauty! Oh, she wasn’t really a historical figure? Well darn. Um, Helen Keller. Issues of alternative communication and expression are fascinating to me. I’ve been a Keller fan ever since my mom gave me her biography and insisted that it wasn’t Helen “KILLER.”
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Photographer
What blog do you most enjoy reading?
I can’t pick just one!
Who has the best tweets?
What is the best thing about BlogHer events?
I’ve been to all the summer conferences, so while initially it was to meet people that I read on a regular basis, it is now to catch up with those people yet again. I’ve made so many friends online that it is phenomenal to hang out with them in person. What is particularly rewarding is to meet people who are excited to meet me – some of whom never comment, but say they are always reading. That sort of validation is so exciting.
What do you most fear about attending BlogHer ’09?
Only that I won’t see the people that I’m eager to see. The time goes by way too quickly (and yet it is quite a draining experience!) that I usually leave exhausted, and yet wishing for more.
How would you like to die?
Peacefully at the age of gazillion. I’m afraid of dramatic deaths.
What is your twitter name?
Where can your blog be found?
