Karen Meg: Get to know her before #Blogher09

karenmegWhat is your favorite word?

Phenomenal. My son cringes every time I use it.

What is your least favorite word?

Bitch (is this PG-rated?), when it’s directed at me but not by me. I’m sensitive that way.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

Anything that touches my heart, whether it be my husband spontaneously grabbing my hand; a playful look from my son; the soft breathing of my sleeping daughter; the swell of orchestral music at the ballet; the gorgeous stillness of a nature photo; a beautifully worded post (yup, I’m a blogger), the laughter of a child…

What do you most dislike?

Insincerity

Who are your favorite characters in history?

Okay, here is where I come off as not such an erudite scholar – hah! What’s history again? I was a science major. I guess any woman who’s made a significant mark in what has always been a male-dominated world. There are so many, but some names that come to mind: Marie Curie, Roberta Bondar, Jane Austen…

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

I’ve always had a secret wish to be an on-air celebrity, but that would require me to talk easily and freely, something I can only do when at least mildly inebriated. So that wouldn’t be great for my liver. Maybe something in fashion.

What blog do you most enjoy reading?

There are so many, but my blog pal Laski at From the Cheap Seats always does it for me.

Who has the best tweets?

So many, but my gals @rockdrool, @Tara_R , @MomoFali always make me smile…

What is the best thing about BlogHer events?

This is my first time at the BlogHer con, but the thing I’m really looking forward to is meeting all these people that I’ve been “reading” for ages, and experiencing what I know will be a real sense of community.

What do you most fear about attending BlogHer ’09?

Not opening up my mouth and being afraid to approach and talk to people because of sheer intimidation. I’m the one in the party who tends to get stuck in the corner and not come out.

How would you like to die?

I don’t like to think or talk about this stuff usually, (Asian superstitions and all) but hopefully peacefully, not in pain, with my loved ones by my side. Knowing that my husband and kids knew the pride and love that I have for them.

With no regrets. My Dad took 5 minutes with each of his kids before he passed in January, when he could barely talk. Told me things he’d never said to me while growing up. I’ll always have that from him.

I’m off to cry now.

What is your twitter name?

@karenmeg
